NCTC Live Feed Video Clip

Jill and Janet (aka Nilla) visited NCTC today, March 3, 2008. They were able to view the live feed playing at NCTC and chatted with Steve a bit. While they were there, Jill took these 2 video clips with her cell phone.

First Peek at Norfolk's eggs.

The first egg of 2008 was laid on Friday, February 1. A second egg was laid on Monday, February 4 and the third egg on the Friday, February 8.
Due dates (based upon 35 days incubation):
Egg 1 - March 7
Egg 2 - March 10
Egg 3 - March 14
However, this may be a new male at the nest. Stay tuned...

George II and Gracie's 2 eaglets are a little over 7 weeks old.

Now that the incubation process in underway, it would be nice to know which eagle you are seeing on the eggs. Female bald eagles can be up to 30% larger than their male counterparts. You can see the size difference between Liberty (m) and Belle (f) in the photos above.

Although both eagles are large and take up a good portion of the nest, you can see in the upper photo how much further the eagles tail extends to the side of the nest.

Also, Belle sits up higher on the eggs, while Liberty seems to incubate lower in the nest.

Belle has a small white patch of feathers on her right wing elbow, which you can see sometimes when she is settling down on the eggs.

3rd egg for Liberty & Belle
Thanks to AJ for alerting the blog watchers that Belle laid her 3rd egg in the early morning hours of Feb 10th, approximately 5:30 am. AJ was unable to capture a picture of the big event, but Dana & Nilla finally caught a picture of the 3 eggs!
